ACLS Certified...

These past 2 days I have been in yet another class. This week I was taking a certification class. Every healthcare provider is required to be a BLS certified (aka CPR certified) but if you work in a critical care area you must be certified in ACLS; Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Basically you have to be able to run a code, and it also goes over respiratory emergencies, heart attacks and strokes. To pass the class you must be able to run a code as the team leader. The code scenario is known as megacode. In order to do this you first have to memorize all the algorithms set up by the American Heart Association, that you learn the 1st day. Then you must run this megacode in front of your group talk about nerve racking! After all that you have to pass a written test. Well I am happy to say I rocked my megacode and passed my exam! I am so happy! Next week I have to take the same type class but it is the pediatric version(PALS). Nothing make more nervous as a nurse than when a really sick kid comes to the ED. Kids can deteriorate really fast so I am looking forward to the class next week to be a little more confident handling these types of patients. Today when I came home and my hubby was off for the afternoon(everyboday say yay!) so I went to the RedBox (I am so in love with that thing) and got two movies Old Dogs and Up. Old Dogs was cute, but UP was a wonderful movie. We both laughed, smiled, and of course I cried. I literally have been addicted to the RedBox lately! Last night I watched The Princess and the Frog, which was a good move. (I miss living close to New Orleans!) Overall though I would really recommend Up it was such a great movie even if it is a kids movie! Hope you guys are having a great week so far! If you do not hear from me in the next two days I will be working in the ED, but that is ok because I am so excited to have the whole weekend OFF!!! (Can not BELIEVE IT, no work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!!!!! WOHOO!) Have a great rest of the week and praise God for the little things you are thankful for today!

Monday Praise...

The Lord has been teaching us over the past year to completely rely on Him, especially with our finances.
I am so thankful for the Lord's provisions in our life.
He is always right on time and is so faithful!!

My heart confident in you, O God; my heart is confident, No wonder I sing your praises!

First Day of Spring....

Today is the 1st day Spring. I love spring because...
    • Great weather, I love the feeling of warm sunshine of my face. I miss living close to the coast it is perfect beach weather!
    • The blooming flowers and plants. I can not wait till we move in a month and I can plant some planters! I love the beauty of the Lord's creation!
    • People seem happier. The dreariness of winter leaves and people seem to perk up.
    • Easter which is even better than Christmas when we celebrate the beautiful gift of salvation.
    • Our Anniversary is this spring, I can not believe it has been almost a year!
    • Spring cleaning or in our case spring packing we are moving in a month.
    • We get to travel to see our family in Georgia.
    • Grilling out, I love it when we grill.
    • Letting the windows down in the car while driving down the road. (It is finally not too cold!)
    • An abundance of bright colors, I love cheerfulness of spring wardrobes.
Sadly on this 1st day of spring we will both be working. I hope you all enjoy this weekend and the first day of spring!

    Wonderful Wednesday...

I love that most Wednesday's that my sweet husband and I are both off work. Today Bob had class till three so I slept in, not as late a yesterday, till about ten. Honestly not much happened today. Izzy and I went for our usual walk and then I went to my WW's meeting for my week two weigh in, which I lost 4.8 pounds this week! (I am so excited) Then when Bob got home we watched "Couples Retreat", that I had rented from the RedBox. It was funny, we hardly ever watch movies together so that was nice. Bob took me to Outback for dinner. I am so blessed to be married to such a wonderful man, he spoils me! It was a delicious dinner and a nice break from cooking. Overall it has been a great night with my hubby. Izzy has been a little jealous. Anytime we show affection towards each other she tries to insert her self between us. It is actually quite funny. Poor thing thinks she might be left out and is not getting enough attention.

She is a sweetie though, and needs another haircut! Sorry for such a short post tonight but I am going to enjoy the rest of this wonderful night with my hubby!

    Manic Monday..

Do you know that 80's songs Manic Monday by the Bangles? You know the one that goes:
" It's just another manic Monday
    I wish it was Sunday
    'Cause that's my funday
My I don't have to runday
It's just another manic Monday "
That was my day yesterday. It started out a any normal monday in the ER, a very busy day. Side note: If you ever get sick on Monday's just a note the ER is always PACKED on Monday. So if you get sick go to your primary care doctor unless it is an emergency. Anyway back my day yesterday. It went from ok to busy to really bad (aka very sick patients at the same time). I didn't stop all day, just enough to chart. I got home exhausted physically and emotionally. So how do you follow up a manic Monday? Thankfully I was off work today and so I slept in really late, I do mean REALLY late it was 12:40 pm when I got up. Then I put on some laundry and a load in the the dishwasher. One of the best part about today was a phone call from one of my best friends, Victoria! We follow each other's blogs but have not had a chance to talk in a while. I am so thankful she called even if it was for a little while it was so nice to talk to her and it made my day. The day continued to be very nice, I made lunch, worked out, and then took Izzy for a walk. Later I ran to the store to get some fresh fruits and veggies that were on sale (I love Harris Teeter) and in the process stopped at the Redbox to rent a movie. So after I cooked dinner I watched The Time Travelers Wife with Izzy. I would say overall it was a good recovery Tuesday. There is only one catch and sadly it is a pretty big one. I have not really seen my husband. I mean like talked with him and shared about our days since Sunday. Sometimes our crazy schedules stink, at the beginning of the week if I am working we usually see each when were are sleeping. I get home late and he is in bed then he gets up really early and I am still sleeping, not fun. I am looking forward to tomorrow night when he is off work and I am off too!

Oh to Grace How Great a Debtor.....

Happy Sunday Y'all. We had a wonderful morning of worship, teaching and fellowship at NCF Raleigh this morning! The Lord is so good! I am so thankful for grace and the gospel! This morning we sang and old hymn that I love and I thought I would leave y'all today with the last verse of the song. It was such a reflection of my life and the cry of my heart!
"O to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above"-
    - From the Hymn Come Thou Fount
    All Praise to Him Alone,

    EKG Class...

I have been in class the past two days. What kind of class you ask. A class on identifying cardiac dysrhythmias for work. Have you have seen and EKG strip?
    Here is one:
Try looking a 80 of them, counting the PR intervals and QRS on these tiny blocks inside the darker blocks. My eyes hurt. Then you try to decipher what the rhythm the strip is which at times can be complicated. I am done with the class part but I still have to take an exam (after I study of course). Anyways that is what I have been doing the past two days. Last night since I only had to work till 7 I was able to go to our community group (sadly due to work it is rare for me to be able to go)! I love our community group! It was a great night of food, fellowship, and bible study. We are so blessed to have found a church up here and made new friends. As for tonight I am looking forward to cooking dinner for Mr. Wonderful! Usually when I cook dinner we don't get to eat it together because of our work schedules. Tonight we are having Blue Cheese Stuffed Buffalo Chicken, from Cooking Light Magazine (I hope it is as good as the recipe looks). I love date nights at home!

    Week in Review...

Hey Y'all! I took a little blog vacation but I am back! Here is our last week in review. I had some classes to take at Duke called ED Core 2 last week and worked a few days. Bob was on spring break so it was nice to see each other little more. I had a sinus infection, I must officially have the worst immune system ever. I went to the doctor, got some meds and now feel much better. I also finally started taking a multivitamin (I know, I know I should have done it along time ago). I started Weight Watchers last week and went to my weigh in this week and lost 7.8 pounds, wohoo! Over the past week I have turned our kitchen into a weight watchers friendly one. I even found a great blog with WW recipes that are delish! We were able to watch Duke beat UNC Saturday night when we went on our date (love those Blue Devils). These past two days have been gorgeous outside, Izzy and I have loved our walks. I think that is about all that really happened last week! Sorry if I bored you! This is our life :-)

    Praying for Cohen...

About a week ago I ran across Megan's blog. She and her husband are expecting their first child, a sweet little boy who is to be named Cohen. However, the recently they received some difficult news about little Cohen. Their sweet little boy has several heart defects. Each one separately can be pretty well managed but all four together are rare and much more serious. Please join me in praying for complete healing of Cohen and strength for Megan and her husband. You can keep up with her and read more about their story by clicking the button and link below!

    Cohen's Story:

For you formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. How precious are Your thoughts on me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.

    Happy Birthday Lula!

Hey y'all, do not get me started on last's night horrible and disappointing Bachelor episode. I am so excited about being the next Bachelorette being Alli, I really liked her. How about the announcement of the next Dancing with the Stars cast- Kate Gosslin! That threw me for a loop. Jake will be on there as well. However, as much as I could go on this post is dedicated to one of my best friends Mrs. Erica Glass Wade! I just wanted to wish you a very Happy Birthday!!

I love you girl and wish I was there to celebrate with you. Erica and her husband Bryan are expecting their first child in May, a little boy! I am so excited, he is going to be a cutie and I am sure he will be a ball of energy (If you have ever met his dad you know what i am talking about, Bryan has the most energy of any person I have ever met).
Love you girl and once again Happy Birthday!

I can not wait to see you when I come home in April!

A nice day for a walk....

Bob and I were both off work today and he is on spring break so we were able to enjoy the day together. It was nice. We slept in and Bob grilled some hot dogs for lunch. Mostly we lounged today but we did go for a walk. Izzy is getting really good walking on a leash with out dragging her feet or pulling on it. It was chilly but we had a fun time. Izzy can not figured out all the geese that live in our neighborhood.
Looking at me since I was walking behind them with the camera
What caught her attention? Well none other than the loud neighborhood geese.
The lake in the center of our complex.
Of course the geese followed us. We were on the deck and they thought we had food. Look at them coming in for a landing.
They are pretty, even though they are annoying sometimes.
She just cant figure them out
But She is so darn cute!
Well it has been a great day. And tonight Jake makes his choice on The Bachelor. I hope he chooses Tenley but I have a bad feeling he will choose Vienna, ugh.
Hope you had a great Monday!
