ACLS Certified...

These past 2 days I have been in yet another class. This week I was taking a certification class. Every healthcare provider is required to be a BLS certified (aka CPR certified) but if you work in a critical care area you must be certified in ACLS; Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Basically you have to be able to run a code, and it also goes over respiratory emergencies, heart attacks and strokes. To pass the class you must be able to run a code as the team leader. The code scenario is known as megacode. In order to do this you first have to memorize all the algorithms set up by the American Heart Association, that you learn the 1st day. Then you must run this megacode in front of your group talk about nerve racking! After all that you have to pass a written test. Well I am happy to say I rocked my megacode and passed my exam! I am so happy! Next week I have to take the same type class but it is the pediatric version(PALS). Nothing make more nervous as a nurse than when a really sick kid comes to the ED. Kids can deteriorate really fast so I am looking forward to the class next week to be a little more confident handling these types of patients. Today when I came home and my hubby was off for the afternoon(everyboday say yay!) so I went to the RedBox (I am so in love with that thing) and got two movies Old Dogs and Up. Old Dogs was cute, but UP was a wonderful movie. We both laughed, smiled, and of course I cried. I literally have been addicted to the RedBox lately! Last night I watched The Princess and the Frog, which was a good move. (I miss living close to New Orleans!) Overall though I would really recommend Up it was such a great movie even if it is a kids movie! Hope you guys are having a great week so far! If you do not hear from me in the next two days I will be working in the ED, but that is ok because I am so excited to have the whole weekend OFF!!! (Can not BELIEVE IT, no work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!!!!! WOHOO!) Have a great rest of the week and praise God for the little things you are thankful for today!
